Another great concert

Back home for my Christmas holidays I had the privilege to see Dee Dee Bridgewater in concert in Bari. I remained astonished by the beauty of this woman, let alone her vocal performance. She hold a Christmas concert for the Province of Bari, a concert organized every year for the exchange of holiday greetings between politicians, families and friends.

The concert kicked in one hour late, in normal Italian style and Dee Dee explained us that she had to use sunglasses on stage as hers and her mother’s bags were lost at the airport together with her contact lenses. We had to laugh!

All and all, Dee Dee gave us a great performance with pieces from F.Foster and G. Gershwin and songs from Ella’s repertoire; like Mr. Paganini and a Tisket a Tasket, to finish it all with a beautiful White Christmas dedicated to all children.

I am only left with a question. In a world where 500,000+ jobs were lost in the US only in the month of November, with a crises that is having a boomerang effect on the rest of the world, unemployment has already hit UK and Ireland, where corporate Christmas parties have disappeared and shrank among corporations, was there a need to host such a great artist? Do I need to spell this out? The government paid for it, AKA with tax money. As always... Just my 2Cents.
